    Pia was burnt out, anxious and depressed working over time in a job that was eating away at her soul.

    She had a dream of one day working with children but it felt so out of reach; a pipe dream, with no clear pathway on how to get there.

    After completing ‘Ignite Your Soul’s Purpose,’ Pia connected deeply to her purpose for the first time in her life; a fire lit up inside her and she started taking the steps to make her dream a reality.

    In just four weeks, she found a new job in her chosen industry and enrolled in school to become a Behavioural Therapist and Counsellor for children and adolescents.

    A few years I was doing research to understand the main triggers of burnout, to better make sense of my own situation and support others on their journey.

    One trigger that stood out and resonated with me the most was;

    A LACK OF MEANING & PURPOSE IN ONE’S WORK IS KEY CONTRIBUTOR TO STRESS & BURNOUT

    👉🏼When we don’t find our work intrinsically meaningful or don’t feel empowered to contribute our skills to a bigger cause, then this can leave us feeling burnt out.

    👉🏼Usually feelings of inadequacy and helplessness arise from a lack of empowerment.

    👉🏼The solution to burnout can’t simply be to make work less demanding or through trying to relieve your own stress; it must include making the work more meaningful or finding a path which is more fulfilling, where you feeling useful and like you are adding value through your skills.

    👉🏼Scheduling in self-care and relaxation through different wellness practices such as meditation, yoga, breathwork and other modalities is hugely supportive in relieving stress, calming the nervous system and connecting us back to our true nature. They combat the inevitable stressors of daily life and in my opinion are essential.

    🤔 However, they usually aren’t enough long term and only temporarily decrease the symptoms of stress, rather than addressing the root causes of burnout (of which lack of purpose & meaning is one of them).

    ✨ Without a vision for where we’re going, a sense of purpose, meaning and accomplishment in our daily life and work, many of these symptoms can keep returning.

    Unless we’re following the whispers of our intuition to move us forward in creation and purpose, we’re just swimming around in a fish bowl not knowing that there’s a whole ocean 🌊 out there beyond our current perception to explore and create what we love.
